Thursday Thoughts

You’ve seen them. The quizzes on Facebook.. Let us guess your age, your real age.. age, age, age. I’ve taken them to see what questions are asked but never shared. Anyway, the other day I took one ( to entertain myself while waiting for Chris) and it guessed 22. Really? I’m not sure what to think about the five questions or my answers. Less than 15 minutes later he enters into the waiting room from behind where I sat and continues to walk right by me. I called out his name and he said he hadn’t recognized me. His excuse, I’ve been letting the grey in my hair grow out. Okay. That was freaky. If you know us, you know it hadn’t been too many minutes since he’d last seen me. Fast forward two hours, we’re shopping and he’s a couple aisles away. A woman strikes up a conversation with me. She sees Chris and asks if that’s my dad. There you go!

I’ve decided that the best we can do about age and aging is to ignore most of it. I’m sticking to the 22.

  1. I love this post.
    You are ageless.

  2. As I approach one of those big round birthdays, I’m not quite sure what I’m thinking about age. I have been thinking about it though.

Great post. Coffee spew moment. I’ve resisted the quizzes. Age is in the mind until the body screams otherwise at you. OOOH karma’s a bitch eh, Chris? Lol. Love you both! And yes, a perpetual 22 would be nice.

  4. When Dan had to be hospitalized once, at 3am after 9 hours in the ER, the (not) very nice nurse said it was “sweet that his mama was with him.” Not cool, as I am a year younger. Recently, a business acquaintance commented on a remark that i made about Dan’s age with “well, he’s quite older than you- he’s what? 40? and you’re 28-30?” Yes. Yes i am. (it’s impolite to correct people πŸ˜‰

  5. Ignoring it is the way to go. You’re as young as you feel!

  6. A fun reminder that age is only a superficial thing!
You mention that the questions in these quizzes don’t always seem relevant, have you thought that the answers to certain questions, plus who you are (via FB) is valuable information for marketers / advertisers. There are more commercial reasons behind these trivial quizzes.
