Just ahead of the first storm of the spring, a flock of redpolls flew in.
Birds were everywhere at once. I walked through a cloud of wings on my way into the house. They flew up into the spruce and immediately back to the feeders.
Sammy and I were pretty excited. The light was poor, it was dusk and the snow had started.
Spring.. in the Kingdom we celebrated with 12 hours of sleet and ice. By morning there should be nearly a foot of new snow!
That’s what is predicted. We’re into hour 24 of a 48 hour storm warning and it hasn’t slowed down. I think I’ll go have a snooze on the floor in front of the wood stove. There is something about radiant heat..

Oh. My. God. I was kvetching about the mist that was falling this morning before the afternoon of partly cloudy. Oy.
However, I still wish this house would sell so I could be there.
I wonder if Newport got all that snow?
Sounds cozy, despite a foot. What’s another foot?
So much for spring in the Kingdom! Although, it’s cold and windy here so we’re not doing much better.
Nice photo of the redpolls in the snow!
Another foot?? Seems a shame to have to get out a shovel when the calender says spring.
You have the right idea though, hibernate a little longer in front of a cozy stove.
It was pretty nasty over here in the Champlain Valley all morning, but cleared up by the afternoon. I do not know what redpolls are! I must learn about them.
Omigawd, kitty bliss! If you could do a video of all those flittery, hopping little appetizers, he would probably watch it for hours!
Oh I BET Sammy was excited. Ha! π
You got snow, we got wind! I almost blew away on my way to work this morning.
Mmmm the wood stove sounds lovely. I miss mine.
Thank Goodness the snow God passed over us this time except for a few inches. No birds on the snow here yet…..hopefully they will be home soon π
