This morning I walked out onto the deck, coffee in hand, to see this..

Another glorious day. April in January. On a Wednesday. I needed to walk. My tendon is improving. I’ve been behaving myself. This weather has been SO extraordinary. By noon, it looked like this…

I decided to walk. I would check for signs of winter, or whatever season this weather represents. I stretched carefully, walked more slowly than usual and only went about 1.5 mi., half the distance I normally walk.
I found that the streams are rushing, skunk cabbage is showing, and for all the looking, I found only a very small patch of ice, hidden in the shade of tree trunks, deep in the woods.

aaaahhhhh……
Here’s a thought. There is a blog starting over at this site. The goal is to walk, run, or somehow perambulate yourself, 100 miles before April 1st. It works out to about one mile a day, or better yet, a 3 mile walk every 3 days. Believe me, walking WILL make you feel better, more alert, more alive, more, MORE whatever. It will help you to clear your head and to focus. It will help you to relax. And, you just might get so that you want to walk further, more often. You might even lose weight. You could even begin to Walk with me Wednesday. No downside to this one.

Beautiful! I wish I had someplace lovely to walk. I recently altered my walk home so I could walk under some pine and oak trees that line the street my office sits on, but beyond that it’s all concrete and asphalt. Phooey. I signed up for runagogo too!
Thank you again for sharing your journey with us!
I’m sorely tempted to join the 100 miles myself. Couldn’t do my backside any harm, that’s for certain!
We have plans for a Walk this weekend with WMW in mind. Smith and Moxie found a spot last weekend…I’m game for the 100 miles, too!
Isn’t it odd to see the skunk cabbage? I’m always so excited to see it after the snow melts…
Beautiful photos…and so glad to hear that your tendon is improving….
Everything is confused. I saw some Boston trees leafing out.
Glad you are feeling better. I’m going to give this some consideration…Do XC miles count?
More like April indeed. I have honeysuckle leafing out. Makes me wonder what April will be like, I’ll be sure to be ready for skiing.
Beautiful pictures, and I’m glad to see that you are feeling better. I really look forward to your “woodsy” pictures. And the water pictures as well. I’ve been thinking about that 100 mile challenge as well. What have I got to lose? (Don’t ask.)
Beautiful photos – I just signed up at the runagogo site yesterday and bought my pedometer today. I couldn’t figure out how to calibrate it to my stride yet, but that’s coming. Two of my New Year’s resolutions were to walk more and pay attention to my dog. So maybe I will take you up on your offer, taking photos might inspire me to walk further a-field in photo-worthy places.
I’m in for the 100 miles. Doing it at the gym, though, and that doesn’t make for very good WMW pictures. Heh.
No doubt walking is great for anyone! Glad your feeling a little better too. At this rate, if you girls keep having winters like this, I’ll be able to mail up some palm trees!
You can check my blog for signs of winter. I even managed to post a walk on Wednesday.
I’m very happy with the temperatures, but very worried about summer’s fire season. Sigh, can’t win for losing.
