Smatterings

There are times when I need to help myself put my emotions into perspective.  Usually a good long walk helps. I can almost always find solace in the woods, Acceptance and significance can require a bit more. I need big. The vastness of a dark starry sky, the mountains in the distance, the endless horizon of the desert, and especially for me, the ocean.  The only thing I can honestly say I crave when I am in the hills, is the sea.

Last weekend we went for a good long walk along the shore. The air, the sound of the waves..

I woke a half hour earlier this morning and watched the dawn. The turkeys won’t leave the trees until the sky is bright.

It had been more than six months without seeing the ocean. When you’re born near the water, it runs in your veins.  For me there is no need for a beach.  I love the rocks, the sound of the waves crashing upon them and the salty mist that explodes as they do.  It was cold and windy and the sky was blue ahead of the storm.
It has been one of those weeks where everything happens all at once. All of it necessary, no way to procrastinate. I only managed one walk all week. The weather changed the day this picture was taken. That night the temperature dropped dramatically and it snowed.  I’ve been waiting for the icy crust to melt before heading out on the trails.  Maybe today?

    1. I completely agree on having the ocean running in your veins, I know it does for me, too. Lovely photo.

I so enjoy that you’re doing walk with me Wednesdays again. I look forward to it. I spend a few minutes looking into (not at) your photos and breathe in the beauty. Thank you.
