Dandelion season is over.

So too are my Dandelion Toe Up Socks. After knitting a new gusset, heel and heel flap, a pattern I really liked by the way, I’ve decided that the sock is still too tight around my instep. The sock would not be comfortable. It pulls across the top and distorts the stitches. The new pattern I decided on, (toe up with a heel flap) that Wendy posted, is a much better choice for my high instep. If I tried it again I probably would have a pretty good fit. But after all the changes, I am not sure that the heel will stay in place. I’ve got my numbers in a top down sock worked out for a good fit. When I get around to it, I’ll wind the yarn back into a skein, wash out the knitted kinks and try again. Top down.

Too bad about the sock, it’s a very pretty pattern and perfect with your yarn.
It’s so cute with the little flowers — I’m sorry that it didn’t work.
Bummer. But if the top down ain’t broke, why fix it?
awww fooo…they are so nice! but you are right, nothing worse than a sock that isn’t comfortable….better luck next time….
Sorry for you that you did all the work for nothing, but better to have a sock that you can actually wear than one to put away in a drawer. The color is great though and the yarn looks really soft.
I do love the little dandelion puffs – perhaps you’ll chart it?
Oh ya, I’m all about top down. It will be a gorgeous sock!!
Well you tried, though sorry it didn’t pan out for you. Nothing wrong with a top down and the fit will be better.
Ah, that’s a shame! But it was the right thing to do.
Oh, it’s so lovely!!! I hope it works out int he re-knit!
I was just ruminating tonight on the disappearance of time in the form of the frogged knit object. I still have trouble with that transformation.
Bummer, but nothing like a great fitting sock, it’s worth it. I really like the pattern in that sock, hope you repeat it!
The yarn and pattern are quite lovely – and unexpected.
I love the dandelion yarn and after a couple of false starts, settled on the Monkey pattern. Well, I finished one, having added an additional repeat of the pattern to make it wider at the top and then decided that was not the way to go. So I will frog it and still do Monkey, but make the pattern repeat be 18 stitches instead of 16 and get what I need. I also tried a Dutch heel which worked well.
