I’m dyeing. I’ve done more that two dozen dyebaths since Friday afternoon. I’m into my second 2 gallon watering can of water. Once the weather turns cold, I have to carry my water to my dyeing area. The outdoor hoses and tanks have been drained for the winter. With such little water used, it isn’t much of an inconvenience. Most of the water used leaves as steam, a bit more drips into the pan or onto the floor as I change colors.
This cold, raw, grey weather is a perfect time to play with color. Sunday I went for a short hike in the woods, sort of looking for inspiration. It was raining and the colors were muted. I came home and dyed a 2 ply in greys and browns. It looked like a sparrow. I figured that was enough for a theme and went on to dye another resembling swallows. I’m back to COLORS. That and something hot to drink.
There is yarn in the pot, and more soaking to be ready for this afternoon. Maybe there will be time for another short walk, before the really frigid temps settle in.

Ooh! Aah! What a sunset picture! It reminds me of those locket pictures of sunsets in Florida that were made of butterfly wings when I was a kid. Someone would come back from vacation with one of those, and we’ld all stand around and say the above. (Of course, that was back in the 50’s, when we didn’t know any better.)
Your pictures are fabulous as usual! Thanks for sharing your walk.
Beautiful!! You’re inspiring me to get out and walk and take pictures. Thanks for sharing.
The photo of the white pine is wonderful.
temps got “more seasonable” around here too…and like you I wonder how long it will last…beautiful colors in the sky behind the woods!
Wasn’t mild where I was.
That middle picture looks just like clothes (or dyed skeins!) hanging on a clothesline. Like that banner you used to have, in fact. 🙂
Always a pleasure to “Walk with You”.
Those leaves look a bit like little elf socks hanging out to dry on the line.
Your sunset looks so beautiful too.
what a marvelous fair isle your last photo would make!
I see gorgeous yarn in those!
I got out and walked for half hour yesterday – barely about 0 and with a wind. I wish I took my camera. Your photos, as always, are inspirational.
Just look at that sky! Lovely.
Thank you so much for sharing these most beautiful pics!
