  • It’s raining

not snowing..  What a difference a year makes.

    Image

Imagine, February 3rd. and the sap is beginning to flow.  I'm still checking for ticks and allergy season never ended.  Come on Mother Nature, it's not to late.  Just a little winter.  Ignore the ground hog.  What does he know?

Remember, there are only 5 1/2 wks. before  daylight savings returns.

Beautiful mosses with Willy hiding in the background.
It has certainly been an odd winter. Rumor has it we’ll be getting snow on Friday.

57 degrees this morning, and snow predicted tomorrow. Crazy.

  • Stopover and KAL

Bang Out a Sweater is a great idea and I joined right in but this sweater has been years in the making.

I began spinning the yarn I'm using in November 2014. It is a lovely soft Romedale spun into a squishy 3 ply aran wt.

The dark blue brown blend was carded and spun last summer. Not for this project specially, but with the idea of using it in a sweater as a contrasting color.

The Ocean Shetland blend was carded years ago when most of two pounds was spun as another 3 ply yarn that I apparently have stored in a very much too safe a place.  I know it exists, I have pictures.  Lucky for me, I had a batt or two left in an unsecured location and was able to spin, ply and wash it over the weekend.

    Knitting began this afternoon.

    It's going to be fun!

    1. COOL. Can’t wait to see you bang it out.

    2. How perfectly beautiful! I’m going to enjoy watching this grow.

Your spinning is so even! Jealous,

    4. I looks great! I was going to join in but I couldn’t find enough of the yarn I wanted for my size at Halcyon. Now you have me thinking that maybe I have some in my hand spun stash? I love how those colors look together. I’m looking forward to watching it grow.

Oooh, a handspun Stopover! Love, love your colors!

  • Weekending

finally, it was all about winter!

    Image

This was a weekend of things indoors and out.  There was hiking before the snow fell and then again after, blue skies, gray skies, white outs , and a glorious full moon, loading the wood box, feeding the fire, homemade pizza, movies, knitting, and football. The den curtains were finally sewn together and rehung.  I read a little, cleaned a little, and feed the turkeys for the first time this season.  I relaxed, shoveled snow, drank beer, played word games and even read a bit.  The X-files returned.

The celebratory after the game bottle of champagne.. it was not uncorked.  ( It'll keep a few more days.)

    1. Other than the reason the champagne remains unopened it sounds like a perfect weekend to me.

    2. That really was a perfect weekend!
