  • sweet hitchiker.. part 1

The weekend was incredibly busy.  There was not a relaxing moment.  C had decided that he should go to a local farmer’s market with our hostas.  (We have LOTS of hostas. Have I showed a picture of the hosta fields lately?  I’ll have to check. I want you to understand.. LOTS OF HOSTAS!)  We set the alarm for 5 am. There really was no need.  It’s so light that time of morning that I’m already awake, not up, but awake.  After consuming as much of the elixer of life coffee as I could in the short amount of time alloted, we packed up and made the 35 minute drive.  The day was glorious, perfect for being outside, chatting with folks, and spinning.  I knew I’d be there for 5 or so hours, so took my wheel.  Let me just say here, that the lily people were there, with more lilies, and now I have more liles.  That’s just the way it goes.  I do not feign restraint when it comes to great garden deals.
On the way home, C stopped by the Merlin Tree to pick up these:
    Hitchiker001  and these:

Hitchiker006  Late Saturday afternoon, I started sanding (and resanding, over and over) the pieces that David had cut for me from my own spalded maple and those cut from a fine baltic birch plywood.  I had ‘a plan’.

Hitchiker008  Sunday morning, after breakfast, I started on ‘the plan’.  I needed to have all the pieces ready for a 1:30pm workshop.  I hung them to dry.

    Hitchiker012
When I arrived, someone special was there to greet me..

    Hitchiker031  stay tuned..

    1. Ohhhhhh … a line of Hitchhikers … a cutie sheep … I wish I was there

    2. Can’t wait to see what you have done with your wheel :-). My Robin is made from spalted maple and I LOVE it!

    3. It’s Sweetie Pie! How did the hostas go at the farmer’s market? Was it worth the trip? What’d ya get for lilies? I’m just full of questions! And can’t wait to see the wheel.

That Sweetie Pie is just toooo cute for words…someday i will have my own sweetie pie 🙂

    5. It is a glory year for hostas in my yard. I wish I’d divided the ones by the back door in early spring as they’ve taken over and practically block the way.

    6. Such a tease – for once I agree with Norma (can that be possible?????) – and more pictures.

    7. The suspense is too much for me! Pray, tell.

    8. Oh my, you now make your own wheels? What could be better than to be greeted by that cute face!

    9. So that’s why I haven’t heard from you 🙂
Sweetie Pie is still so sweet even though she’s certainly grown. Did you hear Marisa? She may have a Sweetie Pie of her own.You know what that means :))

  • the 5 ‘B’s

Tivoli is ready for the bind off.  Which?  Good question.  I think a small i cord.  Yesterday I went along for the 1:15 min ride when C took his nephew back to NH, just so I could knit.  There is so much to do all the time that I rarely take any time off during the day to sit and knit;  guilt creeps in, monkey mind starts up at warp speed, it’s always something.   That, and some Home Depot type shopping, killed the afternoon.
I’m almost finished with the send 1 oz. bobbin of Kim‘s bunny blend.

I have been recharting the Dayflower Lace Scarf Pattern. I’d like to make a stole from it.  It took hours to chart this last evening using traditional knitting symbols.   My mind just couldn’t wrap itself around two more languages.. type ‘g’ to make the symbol for the knit stitch,  ‘@’ or ‘e’ = the ‘p2tog’ symbol.. see?  I thought I’d test it out making an afghan square.

Consider me buried today by beans, brocolli, berries and basil and bunny.  I think it’s time to start blueberries, too.

    1. The link to the Dayflower Lace Scarf doesn’t work. I would love a written pattern to that – tho I probably should learn to read knitting charts. Again, your smattering account is not accepting mail.

    2. sorry about that, the link is fixed now. her link to the pattern is on her side bar.

    3. What fun things to be buried in!! Yumm……basil, pesto :-))))
      Your spinning looks wonderful!

    4. Arent Kim’s fibers amazing. I bought some in purple and chocolate chip and it is amazing. My kids pick up the rovings and pet them. I love bunnnies!!!

  • introducing..

P1010038  Mr. Wild and Wooley himself.. ‘spider boy’ Sam making his debut.. Bu and Zak are still trying the if I don’t see him, he’s really not there approach.  I think Zak is secretly terrified.  Bu is sure that when the 15 yr. old nephew leaves, so will this and life will again settle in to normalcy.

P1010042 there’s an awful lot of this going on..

P1010043  lots, see what I’m talking about.  A new holding area is behind the existing structure

P1010032_1 not enough of this has been going on (that IS Tivoli), however hours have been spent on this raft during the past couple days, poling out and dropping the rake (which is attached to the winch on the back of the tractor) in order to remove the chara fromthe bottom of the swimming area.  This is really hard work, heavy, dirty, slimy, smelly, HARD WORK.  But, it gets rid of baggy arms really fast. I’m looking good.

and I leave you with this ominous shot, for here in the Kingdom,  9I saw this August 1st. but I couldn’t bring myself to look at it and walked around it for two days)

ohh.. I just can’t go there now.

Awww…how cute Sam is!! I have noticed with my black cat, that in all his pictures, he looks possessed with those yellow eyes!!
I can’t bear to look at that fallen leave!!

    2. Oh, that adorable pointed little chin Sam has. That little slinky body – he’s so cute.
Hmmm… it’s raining here – and cool. Reminds me of fall. Reminds me that there are many things I still want to do this summer. Better get to them.

    3. I’m in love with the cat. Seriously in love. He’s beautiful!
The leaf…well…I’m north of you, I think. And that leaf is just plain scaring me, is all.

    4. Laurie

uhhhhhhhh….yay fall? I guess I remain an outlier. (Beautiful kitty!)

    5. I can honestly say that I am looking forward to fall……..it’s been too darn hot this summer. Fall means Rhinebeck :-))) I can wait for winter though….

    6. Last year at our golf tourney the leaves had just begun their change. It was two weeks later, however. I’m ready for a change in the heat but not for cold days.
      Cute Sam!

    7. Spider boy is so damn cute!!!!!!The leave is stunning….
