  • a long and (winded) winding road

It’s been a while since I last posted.  I’ve got lots of excuses, mostly just work, appointments and things that generally use up all my take up time. And, then there was Saturday’s adventures with the Typepad upgrades.  All day Saturday I was really too weirded out to post. Every time I looked at my own or other Typepad acccounts, they were screwed, big time, most of the content missing..  partly legible.  By late afternoon I was convinced that it
would never get sorted out and we’d all be starting fresh today or
whenever, but somehow, magically.. those litle tTypepad elves worked it
out.  ( I’m a bit curious as to why my typing is in such a HUGE font
right now, but I’ll keep going, with faith and see what happens.)  And
    then there was this:

all of which take up lots of time.  The ‘free’ ipod finally arrived.. without instructions.  Those of you who have already mastered the little time eater won’t have too much sympathy, but it took me parts of three days to get music on and off the thing.  I went online, okay!!  Cindy went online!! There wasn’t much that you could just put your fingers on and follow.  Sheesh!
The Kite Runner is worth the time, a must read that I must read fast, having waited until days before it’s due back at the library, no
    extentions.
ahhhh….  spinning.  It’s been a month and I am only just realizing
that I did get some  worthwhile stuff out of that Alden Amos
workshop.  I’ve been using the long draw all weekend (and most of the
past couple weeks).  My spinning isn’t THAT much faster but I’m liking
    the results.

And for no good reason, except that I’ve been noticing all these simply wonderful close up shots circulating around blogland, I decided to download the manual to my Olympus, why shouldn’t it be able to get that close.. ??  It can!  I just lost put the manual in a very safe place when I got the camera a couple years ago and it is still safe.  Unreal!
And then there is this:  ( yes, the foot IS longer than the cuff.. it’s that size 9 thing again)

    Dsc_0033_2 and then this..

oh, and Steph is probably right when she says that showing the sock a good time does not insure a speedy completion of the sock, but it sure does make it more fun! Quite.

    1. My MIL sent me KiteRunner when I was on foot rest. It’s a powerful book. I had to gird myself to get through some parts. If you run out of library loan time, you can borrow my copy.
Congratulations on not even a hint of SSS. I’ve got you on foot size though.
(The socks always do look a little….odd, I know.)
There is nothing intuitive or easy about loading up the Ipod. I’ve often wanted to drown the sucker. But when it works, it is amazing.

Download books on the Ipod, works great.
      Have a nice fourth.

I have enjoyed the sock’s journey…not so sure if it knits “itself” up any faster, but it is amusing!!!

  • at home: by ‘Sweetie Pie’

    I live in a house..
    062805002  I watch TV.

062805009  play with my toys..  and I play with things that aren’t exactly MY toys.. like the toilet paper.  It sure can go a long way.  Sometimes I go get it and carry the end all around the house.  Gram thinks I’m very smart when I do this.  Gramps… well, I don’t think he feels exactly the same way.  And then there is the fridge.. where all the really good treats are kept.  Yesterday when Gram opened it’s door I ran over and grabbed the carrot bag and pulled it right out and onto the floor where I could open it better.  Gram helped me and hugged me and gave me pieces of the carrots all broken up, just the way I like them!

062805008  and I eat pizza for lunch ( well, if I eat my lunch, I get pizza treats)  Life is good, here in the house.  Time for a nap, huh Gram??

All right now,for those of you who actually read this to the end, I am the "Auntie’ not the ‘Gram’. As much as I love to pet, squeeze, kiss, hug that little lambykins… she does not live in my house.  Her Gram, however, is trying to figure out housetraining.  Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing?  You know, with SHEEP?  Gram is having a hard time thinking about the barn in winter.  I mean, she’s still stuck on the barn in summer, if you catch my drift.

    1. Judy,
I just love those pictures of Sweetie Pie. You are indeed very lucky. Will Sweetie Pir continue to live in the house or at some point will she have to go out to the barn? I showed Wayne these pictures and his first reply with out hesitation “NO, we are NOT getting a lamb”. He knows me so well. I am plying for an Alpaca. I doubt that will fly either. Well you guys take care. We all miss you!!!!!!

    2. Oooo, the life of a lamb. Now I want one! What a sweetie pie!;-)

    3. Oh, poor Gram. She’s gonna have a rude awakening pretty soon, when Sweetie Pie can’t fit through the “out” door and is PERMANENTLY inside wreaking havoc, eh?

    4. Oh lordy that little girl is cute. So, actually, isn’t gram your mom. And therefore, aren’t you sweetie pie’s SISTER? Okay, I’ll shut up now.
So sweetie pie won’t mind the barn in winter as much as in summer, will she? Maybe she’ll wind up like those australian merino uber-sheep who live in air-conditioned quarters year round so they can get cashmere-like micron counts? Not sure what that would result in with a jacob, though.
I have to admit, I don’t really blame anyone, though. Too cute to resist.

    5. Marisa

Oh my….Sweetie Pie is just too cute for words…I had a friend who mothered two baby pigmy goats…same sort of house training issues!!!

    6. That little lamb is the cutest thing. I don’t blame you for wanting to keep it in the house with you. I want one too!

    7. I might need one too.

    8. k.

the lambdog curled up on the lap is fantastic!

    9. Hi,
I grew up on a sheep ranch in Texas and always had orphaned lambs in the house. The kitchen was the only place I could keep them warm. Later when they were older and stronger they graduated to the back porch. But I never house broke any one of all the hundreds I raised. I’m not sure it is practical with a lamb, though I’d be fasinated to hear if you can pull it off. I did paper train my pet banty rooster, who slept on the end of my bed.

    10. MAN. Can she GET any cuter?
      I don’t THINK so!
      What a sweetheart!
      🙂

    11. Too cute – and seductive – look at all these people who want a lamb of their own. How many of us look at those pictures and think of Mary who had a little lamb?

    12. Umm, can Sweetie Pie please move to Fairfax, VA? She can have a cat and a dog here too. Pleeeeeeeeeeease?

  • remember me?

062805010   Hi!  Remember me??  I’ve been really busy since I last talked to you.  You can’t believe how much I have to learn.  Living in a house, with people, is a lot more complicated than life in the barn, believe me!  Come on.. I’ll show you around.  You’ll see what I mean.

062805012  Oh… that’s my cat, one of them.  And, I have a dog.  That makes three languages other than my own that I have to learn.  Sometimes, things get lost in the translation.

stay tuned.. tomorrow ‘Sweetie Pie’ shows us her house..

    2. Of COURSE we haven’t forgotten you, Sweetie Pie! We’re anxiously awaiting your adventures.

    3. Oh my gosh, sweetie pie, you’re adorable! And I can’t believe you are barely bigger than the cat! Can’t wait for the next installment. Oh, and the kids say hi!
