19.2 Kbps

I can’t figure out if there is something wrong with the internet today, MY internet connections today, or just more lousy phone reception.  I have tried several access numbers.  The fastest, FASTEST, I’ve connected all day is a whopping 19.2 Kbps.  What this means, in terms of blogging, is that maybe I’ll get the picture of the socks up.  IF it succeeds, I will  stop while I’m ahead.  All of the other pictures, on which I spent the past couple hours trying desperately to correct the colors so that they look the SAME color as the yarns they are representing, well…they will have to wait.  (You already can see if the picture is there, not me as I write this, so……) Hold your breath now….here (maybe) are the Trekking socks.

(I know now, after waiting 20 minutes, I have to stop waiting.  I have other things to do.  Pictures, whenever.)

btw.. I took this picture last Tuesday. I didn’t post it sooner because I needed to correct the color on it too.  What IS going on here?

oh yeah.. and that picture of the waves on the water that some of you asked about??  It isn’t an ocean or even a Great Lake.  I took it at Lake Willoughby last Sunday.  I’ve never seen waves like that on a smallish lake either.  It was cold and rainy.  Just. like. today.

ps.  Monday morning and I’ve got a connection at nearly light speed, 44.0 Kbps.  I take what I get.)  Here goes….  12 minutes and counting…  14.. ummmm…I’ll try later.  This is quite the adventure.  another 9 min….  I’ve resized the picture.. I’ve reconnected at 40 Kbps ( a downward spiral, doesn’t feel right) and another try… I’m stubborn.

Whew!! Holy smokes!   I’m quitting while I’m ahead.  This may have been the socks biggest adventure.

  1. Our internet access through cable has been painfully pokey since the students came back to the University. Don’t know if that has anything to do with it, usually we have great connections. Atr you going to the VS&W Judy?

  2. I wondered why I haven’t heard from you! Hang in there kiddo…

  3. I hate when our technology bites us back. And for no good reason.

  4. Weird because you’re site opened up super slow for me just now. Pretty socks though!

  5. Great socks. Well worth the wait.
The Internet has been brutal for a while now. We have mega high speed cable internet and some days I swear we only have regular slow speed dial up. I think the main servers in some places are overloaded and the tech people can’t keep up as the internet opens to more and more regular joe webpage writers such as us.

  6. Holy cow. Yay for the socks. I didn’t get mine finished. I was going to try last night, and realized I couldn’t find the famous Margene short-row heel instructions. Yeeeesh. Another time I fail at being a knitalong hostess. πŸ™‚
    P.S. I think we’ll all live.
P.P.S. Can you believe the weather???
