With a week to go before THE Maryland Sheep & Wool festival, I’m starting to realize that I once again have NO IDEA where, or evn IF anyone is meeting up. I envision myself once again, as I do, going, wandering and wondering…. WHO.. do I know this person virtually, would I recognize anyone from those little pics on their blogs if I did?.. are they all meeting somewhere and I just can never figure it out? So I ask you.. what’s up?? Who amongst you are going? Just askin’.
I am going to the Conecticut Sheep & Wool tomorrow. It’s small and close enough to make the effort. The Merlin Tree’s Hitch Hiker will debut, and I’m going to show my support. The weather isn’t looking very good but it should be fun anyway. There are several local spin-ins Saturday as well. Lots of fibery things to do this weekend.
Tonight I see that Steph (you know, the ONE with THE BOOK) will be in Boston. I raise my hand, I’m a wannabe there. But 6:30pm, that’s almost still rush hour(s).. not a nice thought.
Thanks for all the comments offering suggestions as to what to do with unmatched yarns. Actually, I’m all set. I was trying to matchit for someone else. I still have one more skein to bead of my original dyelot. It should get me where I’m going. The Charlotte shawl was a good idea. Thanks, Tamara.

Lucky you! Two fiber festivals and the Harlot, too!! Grrl, I need your luck.
Don’t worry Judy. A)I have your cell number. B)based on my Rhinebeck experience, it’s actually HARD not to stumble upon a blogger that you recognize at just about every turn, and everyone is SO friendly and open. It’s wonderful. I still cringe at how fawning and obnoxious I was when I came around a corner, somebody from my group did a stage whisper, “there’s CLAUDIA,” and I went up to her and acted like a complete idiot. It’s a great tribute to Claudia that not only is she still talking to me, but we’re actually going to meet up in Maryland. So you see? I’ve been told that Maryland is bigger, as in MORE STUFF, but a smaller space than Rhinebeck, so I can’t imagine that bloggers won’t be tripping all over each other there.
Well, I am going to Maryland, although with nine hours of classes during the actual festival (I have an all-day class on Thursday in addition) I am only going to be “wandering” around for Saturday afternoon! I suggested on Knitter’s Review when this subject came up, that bloggers take their “button” if they have one, and make it into a pin or badge. In the past, they (KR people) have talked about a tiny knitted scarf pin as an identifyer, but I’ve never seen one but my own, and don’t think I didn’t feel kind of foolish! But, I’ve printed out the image I use for my banner and will try to figure a way to make it into a pin or hanging badge. As for tomorrow, I am going to be there after much back and forth discussion about making the trip so close to MSW. I do want to see the Hitchhiker, and maybe try it for a friend, so if you are there, give me a hint of what to look for! A red rose, a white handkerchief in your vest pocket, a…..? By the way, Stephanie will be at Maryland and hopefully with a pen in her hand!
Judy….make sure to take pictures of all the bloggers so I can at least see all of you enjoying yourselves!!!
Hi from the scattered mom of twins from CT today! Thanks for getting me started on the hitchhiker. I just spun up 2 oz of low-twist singles on it and I’m hooked. I’m wondering about taking it as a carry-on to MD, LOL! I am a little bummed that I mistakenly picked out a left-footed one (I didn’t realize they came in different feet, grin). I’m getting used to it, but I’m definitely a right-footed person so it’s an adjustment.
I’d love to meet up. I’m meeting up with my roommate/old friend/fellow blogger Sara (Sara Skates) and CeCe (FiberFish) at the Hilton in Columbia. Drinks Friday evening are planned. Email me for deets. π
I think NETA is going to have a meetup spot as well. It should be fun. I’m looking forward to seeing you there under circumstances where I can finish a sentence!
