Things I've been thinking about.. this week.
Around 5 am I woke up and found myself thinking about that missing blog post thought. Turns out it had to do with the cold and how cold I was feeling that dark morning and eventually it led to wishing that I had worn an undershirt. I love that they keep my lower back warm. If my back is cold, I'm cold. When I was a child we called them undershirts. Later, as an adult, shopping for some for my grandmother, I found they were called 'ladies vests'. Now, if I want one, I have to ask for a 'camisole', or 'cami'. Some of the cotton ones are called 'wife beaters'. Maybe it depends on where you live. Probably, it has more to do with when. Today is a good day for an undershirt.
This morning, when I looked at the clock to know that it was 5 am, I had to subtract 20 minutes to get the time. C has this habit of setting the alarm, which is the one that lights up making it visible in the dark, 20 minutes later than the real time. It makes me crazy. If you know that it is 20 minutes off, what good is it. He thinks it buys him more time. I've set up my own little clock on my side of the bed with the real time. It doesn't light up in the dark. Now that I think of it, I don't even think about subtracting 20 minutes.. even in my sleep.
Again this morning, the news is all about the recession. That is not news. It is old news. In my stack of mail that arrived yesterday, were 5 applications for credit cards. FIVE! Four of them were for a VISA card, all different banks. No wonder they're in trouble. That is not responsible lending. What are we thinking giving them money?? Wait 'til the credit shit hits the fan… that'll be news!
The last of these little gems has to do with shoes. For the last 12 weeks, that would be since I broke my foot and C. had his broken, shoes have been an issue. I can finally fit into a number of mine. He still can only wear sandals and his heavy winter pack boots. Consequently, he is always mixing up pairs to be more comfortable. This is what I picked up this morning. No wonder he can't find a pair.
When I sat down to post, it was going to be all about my 10 minutes a day. I've got pictures.. later.

I’ve grown very fond of undershirts/camisoles or whatever they are. Amazing how much warmer one can be with that extra layer.
Until my cast comes off, I wear a racer back undershirt to bed and hug my heated Bucky pillow to stay warm. I can’t wait to be able to crawl into bed with long sleeved jammies again! During the day I wear my short-sleeved shirts with a polartec vest and handknit scarves or my new Malabrigo cowl.
I had to wonder about the “news” that the stocks took another dip when word came out that we were Officially In A Recession. Because it was a surprise? Gimme a break, people.
I usually only see cotton t-shirts called wife beaters when they’re worn by a man (usually the ribbed ones, so they’re tight) with no shirt over top. I think the name refers as much to the whole package as it does to the shirt itself.
Sometimes I think this recession is more of a new thing than a real thing. Where I am there are still restaurants full of people which makes me think that things aren’t so bad. Then again, I had a budget meeting yesterday and things look really bleak for my budget next year.
Undershirts. Great idea!
If you start wearing an undershirt, you should not stop wearing an undershirt, until next spring. (or so I was told by my grandmother who swore I would get sick if I didn’t keep wearing my undershirt…those little cotton ones with the hard pink flower smack dab in the middle)
PS…you are going to want to keep wearing one for the next week…burrrrrr
I’m getting those credit things too. Black Friday simply meant that people couldn’t change their habits, and there will be more mortgage and credit bailouts for people who are acting like dinosaurs (keep doing what you are doing when what you are doing isn’t working anymore).
I’m with Chris. I’m about 8 minutes ahead. It’s a mindgame, and it works for me.
