  • what’s new

There is something new on my desk.

    P1020321

This pattern is fun, a nice change from lace knitting.  There is one other project competing with it for my time (one other sweater pattern, let’s not count socks and other smallish items.. hmmm???).  At the end of this week, one will have to take priority.  I’m giving it the week.  This is the Marseille Pullover by Kathy Zimmerman, published in the IK Summer 2006.  Great knitting for mindless tv shows.

Mindless television… time for The DoctorDoctor Who?  Just sending out the heads up to all fans, The Doctor is back.  He has regenerated.  I’m loyal, despite my attraction to Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor.  There have been others, this show has longevity, more than 30 years.  There will be more.  He’s the Doctor.  Friday had two episodes, the 1/2 hr.  season premier, and episode one.  You TiVo users are SO lucky.

Tomorrow is Wednesday — Walk with Me Wednesday.  I’m looking forward to seeing pics from your walks.  Who’s walking??

    1. Maybe I should be saving my mountain pictures for Wednesdays. Nice sweater!

    2. I posted my pictures on Sunday. Kinda screwed up the whole idea. It’s really too dark to take pictures when I go out on weekdays. Maybe I’ll post a few more of the rivers tomorrow. Do you knit cables while watching TV? I’m in awe.

    3. Love the sweater. Very pretty.
I’ll post a picture of the path I wish I was walking through. It’s a service path from the road and isn’t too long, but it is still nice.

    4. Tennant seems pretty good so far, but I miss Eccleston. “It’s sonic, okay, I am sonic’d up!” 😉
I desperately want to see Captain Jack again. I understand he’s got his own spinoff in the works…

    5. I’ve always admired that sweater pattern. Looking forward to seeing yours.

  • Socktoberfest sock

P1020320_6The first sock for Socktoberfest is finished.  Technically, I finished it in September, but it was late  Saturday night. Adhering to  proper sock knitting procedure, I immediately cast on the second sock.

This is not the way the color looks to me in "real" life.  Reds have been eluding me lately.  Seems there is always too much blue or too much orange.  Photoshop and I have been so far unable to come to an agreement on the right shade of red.

The yarn is Ellen’s 1/2 Pint Farm’s merino/nylon sock wt..  On #1s and 2s, the fabric is soft and dense with great definition.

    1. Pretty sock!

    2. It’s a beauty!

    3. Lots of digital cameras are challenged when it comes to getting reds right, and also turquoise. When film didn’t capture colours correctly it was a characteristic of the film, but we seem to expect digital cameras to be perfect….
Nice sock! Must start socktoberfest, but first the ISEIII scarf….

    4. Red is THE hardest color to capture with a digital camera…but I can tell this yarn is PRETTY!

    5. I have no luck whatsoever photographing reds – which is ironic because its my favorite color. I don’t know enough about photography to know if its something with digital cameras or if its always tricky.
The sock against the yellow leaves is gorgeous.

    1. Ice! Jeez. You weren’t kidding about the fall color in full swing already. We have full peak pockets where I am. The rest is just hinting.

    2. What lovely Fall colors. Living in the OC, we never get much in the way of turning leaves. I miss the Seasons sometimes. 🙂

    3. Ice. Ick. I get excited when we get ice on top of the water in a bucket outside but I wouldn’t want more ice than that.
You have the advantage of living on a hill in that cold air drains down and gives your neighbours at the bottom of the hill frost when you don’t get it – no cold air pooling in your place.

    4. Wow! I sure miss the Fall. At least I get to live vicariously through my northern blogging friends. Thanks for sharing!

    5. scary isn’t it? We had ice on the deck Saturday morning too….bbrrrrrrrrrr!

    6. Winter is right around the corner and coming up fast. Sigh. It’s pretty but too cold for my taste.

    7. What a gorgeous picture!

    8. Ice!? Already? Geez..not here. The leaves are still turning and falling.
